The Piedmont Economics Club is dedicated to the promotion and discussion of economic ideas and thought. The Club holds dinner meetings at the Poinsett Club in downtown Greenville, which begin with a social period at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 6:30pm, and a talk by an economist, financial analyst, journalist, government official, or NGO representative on a topic related to economics.
Canal Insurance has been very generous in paying for up to three Furman students to attend the Piedmont Economic Club to have dinner, network, and hear the speaker's presentation. One or two economics professors from Furman also attend the meetings, as do Clemson students and faculty.
